fading magic?
I never believe in humans’ magical trickery. If its entertainment value, I rather know how it’s done and marvel at the thought processes that go behind its creation. Isn’t it more worthwhile to put the trick creators’ efforts to other creative pursuits or into some survival techniques that inspires than bewilder? Do you not already see the magic that happens day in and out of your life? I am amazed yet appalled whenever we do damaging acts that put our Earth’s ecosystem in harm’s way. The dying magic of life.
Main point.
At each stage of life (thus far), what I once look up to in awe seems to be painfully ordinary as I grew towards that chapter. Reading the write-ups was uninspiring, insipid and trite. If it boils down to packaging (fading trend?) and being nice, then I will always remain on the other side to create the world I likened to see.
On a lighter note, it sets as a good reminder for me to stand my ground without being close-minded, to refuse gains that doesn’t belong, to give without expecting, to speak with conviction and the audience in mind, and continually learn and grow into a better me for a better society.
I finally thought of the question i would like to ask the interview panel yesterday…”How much competition is good competition? As passionate educators like yourselves, how do your view it?”
(in response to a certain XX’s reply)
To XX person,
Is this the kind of community we would like to create? What you do potentially shaped the young leaders’ view of the world. And they will go on to spread such perspectives to the younger minds and create the environment you probably grew up in and believed is the way the world works. ….still typing

pg 43. ” you know the thing that Dostoevsky wrote on gambling? It’s like that. When you’re surrounded by endless possibilities, one of the hardest things you can do is pass them up. See what I mean?”
pg. 71 -
“and you have no use for ‘ideals’?, i suppose?” (Watanabe)
“None. Life doesn’t require ideals. It requires standards of action.” (Nagasawa)
“But there are lots of other ways to live, aren’t there?” (Watanabe)
pg. 112 - 113
How wonderful it is to be able to write someone a letter! To feel like conveying your thoughts to a person, to sit at your desk and pick up a pen, to put your thoughts into words like this is truly marvelous. Of course, once i do put them into words, I find I can only express a fraction of what i want to say, but that’s all right. I’m happy just to be able to feel i want to write to someone.
I know this will sound strange, but when i look at the people around me during the game, they all look equally deformed…he told me, in a sense, that what i was feeling was right, that we are in here not to correct the deformation but to accustom ourselves to it: that one of our problems was our inability to recognize and accept our own deformities. Just as each person has certain idiosyncrasies in the way they think and feel and see things, and though you might want to correct them, it doesnt happen overnight, and if you try to force the issue in one case, something else might go funny. You are who you create to be. I am who I create to be.
In the midst of improvements, losing oneself, unlearning, burning out seems unavoidable. Next comes the calibration. Take for example, becoming a more emotional and sensitive person. One may forget what it is like to bring out the steel in one when needed. Then one may need to reconnect with the unfeeling-ness the one had. Find a good balance and keep it. Keep it and do not fear.
